Executive Board

Brendan Roberts – President

Originally from Co. Carlow, Brendan has been based in Austin since 2013. Brendan graduated from Dublin Institute of Technology as a Civil Engineer and began work at a Dublin-based structural engineering consultancy.

He then joined Enterprise Ireland, the trade development and investment arm of the Irish Government, and helped to establish their presence in Texas. As part of Enterprise Ireland’s overseas network, he supports Irish energy & engineering companies’ business objectives across the USA.

Upon arrival in Austin Brendan joined the Executive Board of Irish Network Austin. Elected President of the Board in April 2016, he continues to foster business & trade connections between Ireland and Texas. In his spare time he likes to travel, run, cycle, play team sports and cautiously enjoy the Texas sunshine!

 

Brad Love – Vice President

Boston-born Brad Love moved to Austin in late 2007 after finishing his Ph.D. at Michigan State University. Currently, he serves as associate director of the Center for Health Communication at the University of Texas. His academic research focuses on improving outcomes for young adults affected by cancer, work that led to his role as a founder of Instapeer, a mobile tool for one-to-one peer matching for people dealing with cancer.

Love promotes links between Austin and Ireland by running a university exchange hosted at University College Dublin as well as launching 3-Day Startup Dublin, a social-enterprise program for multinational teams of young people excited to improve the world through innovation. He treasures these summers in Dublin with his wife, May-Ling, and son, Fionn. Additionally, he also enjoys playing for the Celtic Cowboys GAA club, strongman training, and road cycling.

 

Anthony Flood – Secretary

Anthony is a native of Dublin, Ireland who moved to the US in the 1980’s. His career has followed two paths, that of a Rescue Paramedic with Austin-Travis County EMS and as an officer in the Army National Guard. As a paramedic he has served in a variety of specialty roles, including water & land rescue, tactical paramedic and is the recipient of several department and national awards for merit and lifesaving. As an Army officer, he has served in a variety of leadership and command roles within the airborne community and is currently the Deputy Commander of the 136th Regiment of the Texas Army National Guard. Previous assignments include command of a cavalry squadron, staff assignments at brigade and battalion and company command. He has served in numerous US and overseas locations including several deployments to Afghanistan in support of combat operations. Anthony is a proud graduate of the Army Ranger School, the Command and Staff College and other military schools and courses. He has a Masters Degree in Military Science and an undergraduate degree from the University of the State of new York, Albany. He devotes his spare time to running, cycling, backpacking and Crossfit.

 

Jack Frost – Treasurer

Jack is originally from Shropshire, England. She began a career in teaching as a Physical Education and English teacher. After graduating with a Masters Degree in Education from Loughborough University, Jack moved to the United States in 1996, and continued her career as a Physical Education and English teacher. As a passionate athlete she immersed herself in adventure races, triathlons, scuba diving, rowing, and long distance cycling, and more recently, long distance swimming. Always looking for new challenges, in 2001, Jack switched careers and became a professional EMT- Firefighter, and progressed up the ranks and is currently a lieutenant with the Westlake Fire Department – where she is an Investigator/Inspector in the Emergency Prevention Division.

Volunteering has always been important to Jack and she has been an active member in her community since childhood; she has served on the board of Keep Austin Beautiful, volunteers with the Austin Animal Center, and serves as a mentor/volunteer with Explore Austin, an organization dedicated to mentoring underserved youth. Jack is honoured to serve on the board of Irish Network Austin as she brings a wealth of talent and experience to the position.

 

Aidan Griffin – Public Relations Officer

The son of an Irishman from Co. Mayo, Aidan comes to Irish Network Austin having lived and worked in the city for the last four years. Hailing from Boston, MA and a proud graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Aidan is the embodiment of the “I wasn’t born in Texas, but I got here as soon as I could” mantra, although his undying affinity for Boston sports is undeniable. He is currently a Senior Account Executive at Ketner Group PR + Marketing, where he manages corporate communications programs for B2B technology clients, primarily in retail and hospitality. He specializes in media relations and content development for clients of all maturity levels, from startup to enterprise firms. He is an active member of the Celtic Cowboys GAA club, an amateur archer and an avid traveller and hiker.

 

Brendan O’Sullivan – Network Executive Officer

Brendan O’Sullivan, is first generation Irish-American, born in Southern California to Irish Immigrant parents, Martin and Nancy O’Sullivan, both from County Kerry, Ireland.

Brendan began his career in the Oil & Gas Seismic Exploration industry where he worked for 15 years. This brought him to Houston where he met his wife Faith and had two beautiful daughters, Katherine and Christina. Brendan left the Oil & Gas industry in 1992 and began a career in manufacturing where he was the Sr. Electronics Component Buyer for Syntron Inc. In 1996 Brendan started his career in high tech sales with CompTech which brought him to Austin and led him on to ON Semiconductor. In 2010 Brendan began his career with Dell as an IT Project/Program Manager.

Brendan is a founding member of Irish Network Austin and of the Austin Rose of Tralee, now in it’s 12th year. He is also the sitting Cultural Chairman for the Celtic Cowboys Sports and Social Club. Brendan is currently the sitting Network Executive Officer of INATX and the proud father of the 2016 Texas Rose of Tralee, Katherine O’Sullivan.
